Occurrence, cause and forms of acne
Acne is a very common skin disease and affects around 85% of the population. It usually occurs during puberty (acne juvenilis) and regresses in young adulthood. Despite this, many patients suffer from a milder form, known as acne tarda, from the age of 30.
Acne is caused by a combination of several factors:
- Increased sebum production
- Cornification disorder
- Bacterial overgrowth
- Inflammatory processes
Acne forms:
- Acne comedonica with the appearance of blackheads (comedones)
- Acne papulopustolosa with the appearance of inflammatory papules and pustules
- Acne conglobata with the appearance of nodules and abscesses
Holistic acne therapy
The treatment of acne depends on the severity of the skin changes and the speed of development. Skin type, age, gender, concomitant diseases and compliance must be taken into account when choosing treatment options.
A distinction is made between topical (in the form of ointments, creams and gels) and systemic (medication) therapy.
We offer the following additional procedures as part of holistic acne therapy:
- Medical facial treatments with deep cleansing
- Medical peeling, e.g. fruit acid peeling, salicylic acid peeling, TCA peeling
- JetPeel
- Microneedling
